Our History

Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University was established under Law No. 6640, published in the
Official Gazette No. 29335 on April 23, 2015, with the mission of "Building a Bridge to the
Future." The University commenced its educational activities with the academic units
transferred from Balıkesir University and has rapidly become one of the leading higher
education institutions in the region.
Within this framework, the Faculty of Medicine was established on June 16, 2020, as
published in the Official Gazette No. 31157, with the aim of educating highly qualified
healthcare professionals. The Faculty admitted its first cohort of students in the 2020–2021
academic year and officially commenced its educational activities.
Since its establishment, the Faculty has embraced a contemporary medical education
philosophy, aiming to educate physicians who are committed to scientific inquiry, ethical
values, research, and public health. Under a cooperation protocol signed between the
Rectorate of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University and the Rectorate of Istanbul University, our
students completed the initial years of their medical education at the Istanbul University
Faculty of Medicine.
As of the 2024–2025 academic year, all educational activities have been carried out on the
Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University campus.
The Faculty consists of three main academic divisions: Basic Medical Sciences, Internal
Medical Sciences, and Surgical Medical Sciences. In accordance with the affiliation protocol
signed between the Ministry of Health and our University, our academic staff provide
healthcare services while conducting education and research activities at the Bandırma
Onyedi Eylül University Training and Research Hospital.
Since its foundation, the Faculty of Medicine has continuously strengthened its academic
staff, physical infrastructure, and educational resources. Our mission is to educate
competent physicians who contribute to the Turkish healthcare system and are capable of
competing successfully at both national and international levels.
