Our faculty members' project has been approved for funding by TÜSEB (Turkish Health Institute).

The project titled "Development of an Explainable Clinical Decision Support System to Reduce Unnecessary Antibiotic Use in Upper Respiratory Tract Infections," led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Eryavuz Onmaz, a faculty member of the Department of Medical Biochemistry at our Faculty, has been awarded funding under the A4 Group R&D Project Support Program conducted by the Turkish Health Institutes Presidency (TÜSEB).

The project, which will run for twelve months, aims to develop an explainable artificial intelligence-based clinical decision support system to reduce unnecessary antibiotic use in upper respiratory tract infections, which are frequently encountered in primary healthcare settings. The system will evaluate clinical and laboratory data together, support decision-making processes regarding antibiotic use in line with scientific data, and contribute to the widespread adoption of rational antibiotic use.

In addition to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duygu Eryavuz Onmaz, the project team includes Dr. Burak Altındağ and Dr. [Name of second faculty member], faculty members of the Department of Family Medicine at our Faculty. Our faculty member Mustafa Onmaz, along with Dr. Safiye Bilge Güçlü Kayta, a faculty member in the Department of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology, and Dr. Buket Toptaş, a faculty member in the Department of Software Engineering at our University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, are serving as researchers in this project.

The project, which combines AI-supported health technologies with a rational antibiotic use approach, is expected to make significant contributions to reducing unnecessary antibiotic use, combating antibiotic resistance, and strengthening clinical decision-making processes.

We congratulate our faculty members involved in this project, which has been awarded funding by TÜSEB (Turkish Health Institute), and wish them continued success in their work.
